Description:

The Literary Association, on Monday, December 1, 2025, conducted an inspiring assembly on the theme "Turning Pages, Changing Lives." It commenced with a prayer, pledge, and introduction, followed by a Group Elocution highlighting the magic of books. A short skit was also presented, featuring characters who embodied themselves as a mobile (Anushka Singh, Class 11) and inspirational books such as Diary of a Young Girl (Anushka Dwivedi, Class 11) and Wings of Fire (Yasba, Class 11). The skit depicted how books offer knowledge, imagination, and emotional growth, while excessive screen scrolling leads to distraction and stress.

Principal Rev. Fr. Melwin Wilson D’Souza addressed the assembly with encouraging words, asserting that books are treasures of ideas that enhance creativity. He also encouraged the students to use the school library and strive to read five books a month. Citing his own life as an example, he shared that he still remembers what he read in his childhood. He urged everyone to reduce screen time in order to protect their eyes and well-being. He emphasized that using screens solely for information is fleeting, while the true purpose of education is to bring about positive change in everyone’s life. He also praised the efforts of the Literary Association.

During the assembly, Johanna James, a Class 11 Humanities student at SJS, Naini, was felicitated with a silver medal in the National-level Grappling Championship. She secured second place in the championship, which was conducted by the Grappling Association of Uttarakhand from November 14th to 16th, 2025, in Haridwar, where participants from 20 states competed. Johanna James proved her mettle, and was awarded the medal and certificate by Principal Rev. Fr. Melwin Wilson D’Souza. The Principal remarked that it is significant for students to focus not only on academics but also on their physical development. He added that today, our country has become a powerful example of Women's Empowerment.
