St. Joseph’s School, Naini celebrated Children's Day
on 14 November 2025 with great festive fervor, to commemorate the 136th birth
anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The program began with a special assembly conducted by the teachers, followed
by a floral tribute to the first Prime Minister of India.
The specially-abled students, Avinash, Joshua,
and Ashley, along with the Principal Rev. Fr. Melwin Wilson D’Souza and Sr.
Tracy, were the Guests of Honour for the day.
In his speech, Principal Rev. Fr. Melwin Wilson
D’Souza spoke about the great leader, thinker, visionary, and true
statesman—Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He mentioned that the first Prime Minister
of independent India was extremely fond of children. He also shared a story
from Japan, where a group of Japanese children requested an Indian elephant to
be brought to Japan. Pandit Nehru made every necessary arrangement just to keep
his promise, all for the sake of children.
The Principal also
highlighted the famous Indian institutes and universities established during
Nehru’s tenure as Prime Minister, his educational ideologies, and the legacy
that continues to inspire young learners today.
The Children's Day
program beautifully captured the spirit of the occasion, with teachers taking
centre stage and putting up a mesmerizing cultural show for the children. The
cultural program featured a series of engaging performances, all meticulously
planned for complete entertainment.
The performances
included an engaging skit on "AI vs Innocence," a nostalgic drift
into a student's past with the essence of poetry by Ma'am Saira ("SJS ke
bachpan ka tarana..."), and traditional dances by teachers that enthralled
the audience with their energetic and graceful moves. The celebratory mood
continued with group songs and a Qawwali presentation by the teachers.
Students were elated
to see their teachers perform and celebrate the day with such zeal and
enthusiasm. The excitement didn’t stop there. Our beloved Principal, Rev. Fr.
Melwin Wilson D’Souza, took the stage and sang a beautiful ghazal by Jagjit
Singh, "Wo kagaz ki kishti, wo barish ka pani..."—a performance that
took all the teachers down memory lane to their own childhood.
On this special
day, two SJS students were felicitated for their exemplary performance in
karate at the National Karate Championship held in New Delhi. Both Akshat Rai
(3C) and Raj Nandini (5A) bagged Gold medals at the event.
In his concluding
speech, Rev. Fr. Melwin Wilson D’Souza addressed the gathering, encouraging
students to dream big and work hard. He also appreciated the teachers for their
lively performances. He compared children to beautiful blossoms and motivated
them to spread their fragrance everywhere. He further emphasized that we should
keep our innocence alive to remain close to the Almighty.
Children's Day was
marked with grand splendour and festivity, as the school campus buzzed with
excitement. It was a day full of joy and laughter for everyone.
